Many greenhouses in the Northwest are not designed to withstand much of a snow load, so snow storms can be devastating if the greenhouse is not heated.

Even a small recirculating pump can effecively keep an eighty thousand gallon pond ice free in temperatures down to the twenties.

This pond contains a couple of thousand longfin tosai that swim very slowly in the 34 degree water.
