Sakai Auction Update

Sakai Auction Update
October 9, 2009

Sakai's Fall Koi Auction went off without a hitch... in spite of a direct hit from Typhoon #18 that caused hundreds of flight cancellations and serious property damage up and down the coast of central Japan.

Joel barely made it into Hiroshima on the only flight from Tokyo that wasn't cancelled, just in time for the Auction.

The overall quality of the koi offered at this year's Auction was possibly the best in recent memory. Of special note were the massive bodies on most of the 2 year olds but particularly the Yamato, Shining Rose, Tomahawk, Ninja, and Dynamite-Ochiba bloodlines. Sakai attributes these massive bodies not only to genetics, but the new food that the farm has been using. (Omosako has also started using this food and reports that the bodies on this years Nisai are amazing.)

Here are a few of the koi that Pan Intercorp purchased at Sakai's Auction.
