Filtration Systems: Hydrabead Filters How to Order    Shipping/Terms

At the leading edge of Bead Filtration

Solids capture and disposal is one of the most important processes in a recirculating system such as a pond. Bead filtration is a proven, dependable, and effective method for controlling and removing the unwanted solids.maximum filtration.

Housed in sturdy, weather resistant ABS, the Hydrabead line of filters are designed as a user friendly solution for this process.

The Hydrabead #48 shown here, is one of the many models available, all with similar functions but each designed for specific pond sizes.

The inner workings of the Hydrabead Filters are similar in most aspects to those of a traditional bead filter.

A drawback of traditional bead filters was the fact that they relied on gravity to facilitate backwashing. This gravity backwash was often less than satisfactory. Hydrabead Filters are a completely pressurized system that backwashes hydraulically ensuring a thorough filter cleaning.

Cleaning the Hydrabead is an effortless task thanks to the use of a multiport valve.

Simply turn the valve to backwash and your filter is hydraulically cleaned with water from your pond.

Other features include a rinse position and a recirculate posistion which allows you to bypass your filter if you need to medicate your pond.

During normal filtration mode, water from the pond enters at the bottom of the filter through a series of slotted pipes.

Water then travels upward through the floating beads.

The beads pack in the upper part of the unit, create a bead pack that traps solids and particulates before allowing water to pass back to the pond. By utilizing a smaller bead than conventional bead filters, Hydrabead filters provide a larger surface area for increased biological filtration. This smaller bead also gives more of a "polished" effect to the water.

The Hydrabead Filter provides unmatched performance for even the most discerning pond keepers.

Consider the facts and compare with other complete bead filters:

  • Flows of 30-80 gallons/min.
  • Rated 50psi. (allows the filter to be placed out of sight away from the pond).
  • High surface area/volume ratio 500-550 sq.ft/cubic ft.
  • Easy accessibility to internals for normal maintenance.
  • Available in many sizes to fit most any pond.
  • Easy low, volume, highly efficient, hydraulic back wash with no dirty discharge back to pond.
  • Durable ABS construction makes the Hydrabead weather resistant.
  • Easy installation and ideal for space limited situations.
  • Sludge removal drain on the bottom of each Hydrabead assures full removal of waste with each backwash.
  • The New Hydra Swirl feature allows uniform distribution of flow and debris throughout the filters bead pack.
  • A Multiport valve is provided as standard equipment with features such as Backwash, Rinse, Recirculate, and more.
